At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Germany’s Markus Rehm won his fifth Paralympic gold medal in the long jump T64, though he fell short of setting a new world record. Rehm, who has long been a dominant force in the event, secured his gold with a jump of 8.13m, leading the competition from the start.

Derek Loccident of the United States put in a strong performance to claim the silver medal with his best jump of 7.79m. Jarryd Wallace, also from the United States, earned the bronze with a jump of 7.49m. Despite a commendable effort, South Africa’s Mpumelelo Mhlongo set a world record in the long jump T44 with a leap of 7.12m but did not make it to the podium.
Rehm’s achievement underscores his continued excellence in the sport. Years of rigorous preparation and dedication have driven Rehm to the top of the long jump T64. While he did not break his own world record, his performance at Paris 2024 solidified his reputation as one of the greatest athletes in Paralympic history.
