Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of India’s upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh. His wife, Rivaba Jadeja, an MLA from the BJP, shared the news through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Rivaba posted pictures of Jadeja holding his BJP membership card, along with the hashtag “Sadasyata Abhiyaan 2024,” referencing the party’s recent membership drive led by national president JP Nadda.

Rivaba has been active in politics since 2019, when she first joined the BJP. In the 2022 elections, she successfully contested the Jamnagar assembly seat, defeating Aam Aadmi Party candidate Karshanbhai Karmur. With Jadeja now aligning himself with the BJP, speculation is growing that he may transition into politics after retiring from international cricket.
Currently, Jadeja remains an integral part of the Indian Test team. Despite retiring from T20 Internationals after India’s World Cup victory earlier this year, he continues to play a crucial role in the longer formats. Jadeja will play a key role in the highly anticipated India vs Bangladesh Test series, with his experience in both batting and bowling being crucial. He is also set to be a key figure in India’s Test series against Australia, a pivotal contest for their World Test Championship campaign.
