Former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth will lead a 23-member Indian contingent at the Macau Open 2024 badminton tournament this week. After a four-month hiatus, Srikanth, 31, returns to the BWF Tour following his retirement due to injury at the Singapore Open in May. He holds the sixth seed for the Macau Open, a BWF Super 300 event.

In his recent performances, the 2021 World Championships silver medallist reached the semi-finals at the Swiss Open in March but struggled to advance beyond the round of 16 in his other nine tournaments this year.
Malvika Bansod, who recently defeated Paris 2024 bronze medallist Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia to reach the China Open quarter-finals, was scheduled to compete but has since withdrawn. India’s top hopes in women’s doubles lie with third seeds Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, who reached the Singapore Open semi-finals in June but are yet to secure a title this year. Commonwealth Games medallists N Sikki Reddy and B Sumeeth Reddy will spearhead India’s challenge in mixed doubles.
Notably, all Indian players who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympics, including PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen, will not compete in this tournament. The Macau Open 2024 will conclude on Sunday.
Where to Watch
Starting September 28, fans can watch live streaming of the tournament on JioCinema. The broadcast will also air on the Sports18-3 TV channel in India.
