China’s win marks their seventh consecutive gold in this discipline, a streak that began with the event’s debut at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
In a historic achievement for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Jo Jin Mi and Kim Mi Rae took home the silver medal, becoming the first divers from their country to earn an Olympic medal in diving.
