Oliver Bearman Steps in for Carlos Sainz at Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Due to Appendicitis Diagnosis

The Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz will be absent from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after a diagnosis of appendicitis. Ferrari has enlisted reserve driver Oliver Bearman to take over Sainz’s seat for the race in Jeddah.

Carlos Sainz, hailing from Madrid, began feeling unwell ahead of the Grand Prix and missed the media day on Wednesday. While initially hopeful to participate in Thursday’s practice sessions, his condition worsened, leading to the diagnosis of appendicitis.

In a statement, Ferrari expressed well wishes for Sainz’s speedy recovery and announced Bearman’s temporary role, noting his withdrawal from the ongoing Formula 2 Championship round. Moreover, this decision highlights the team’s commitment to ensuring a seamless transition amidst unforeseen circumstances.
