Yash Thakur Takes Five Wickets in IPL 2024, Leads Team to Victory Against GT

Tearaway fast bowler Yash Thakur claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in IPL 2024, leading his team to victory against Gujarat Titans on April 7.

Thakur, representing LSG in front of their home crowd in Lucknow, delivered a stellar performance, grabbing career-best T20 figures of 5-30. His impressive spell included the crucial dismissals of Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and IPL cult hero Rahul Tewatia.

Thakur’s achievement marked the first five-wicket haul of the season, coming just a day after Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler’s centuries. Facing the formidable batting lineup of Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Stadium, Yash Thakur not only removed Gill but also dismantled the Titans’ lower order, restricting them to fall 33 runs short of their target.

With this remarkable performance, Thakur surpassed other bowlers in the tournament, including Mustafizur Rahman and Gerald Coetzee, to register the best bowling figures of IPL 2024. Notably, he rose to the occasion in the absence of his in-form teammate Mayank Yadav, who missed out due to injury.

After earning the title of ‘Player of the Match‘ for his outstanding performance, Thakur is now ready to represent the franchise against Delhi Capitals in the upcoming match on April 12.
