Spain, a country traditionally known for its football prowess, has made headlines in the cricketing world by setting a new record. Despite not yet having full-member status from the ICC, Spain has achieved an incredible feat in T20 International (T20I) cricket. Spain recently became the team with the most consecutive T20I wins, capturing the spotlight for their unexpected success in a sport that usually takes a backseat in the country.

Spain’s record-breaking moment came after a seven-wicket victory over Greece at the Europe T20 World Cup Sub Regional Qualifier C. This win marked their 14th consecutive T20I victory, surpassing Malaysia’s previous record of 13 straight wins set in 2022. The achievement highlights Spain’s growing presence in international cricket and their commitment to developing the sport domestically.
Reflecting on the milestone, Spain’s head coach Corey Rutgers expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment. In an interview with Cricbuzz, he said, “A proud record to be notified about today. We obviously don’t play for records, but this does feel special for the group. It has been a transformative few years in Spain, and a lot of credit goes to players who sacrifice a lot of their time to play for Espana, the management, and my coaching staff. Couldn’t be prouder of all involved.”
Currently, Malaysia and Bermuda are tied for second place with 13 consecutive T20I wins each, while India, Afghanistan, and Romania share third place with 12 wins. Spain now aims to surpass the overall record of 17 consecutive wins held by Thailand’s women’s team.
