India announced their squad for the 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, with notable changes including the return of Shreyas Iyer and the omission of Sanju Samson. Despite scoring a century in his last ODI against South Africa in December 2023, Samson did not make the 15-member squad, surprising many fans on social media. The selectors chose KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper-batters.
Other surprises included the exclusion of Rinku Singh, while Riyan Parag and Harshit Rana received their first call-ups for the ODI format.

The ODI series will run from August 2 to August 7.
