In a major development, Boria Majumdar from RevSportz has reported that all participating boards have agreed to the hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly received no support for its position, and if they refuse to accept the model, they risk losing the hosting rights for the tournament.

Earlier reports indicated that a key meeting scheduled for November 29 was postponed to Saturday, November 30. However, the latest updates show that the decision has been made, and officials will likely announce it soon.
Pakistan’s Potential Financial Loss Despite resistance, all seven other boards involved in the tournament are reportedly on board with the hybrid model. The PCB recently upgraded its infrastructure in preparation for the event and now risks significant financial losses if it loses the hosting rights because of its stance on the model.
PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has maintained that they won’t compromise on their position. However, with India and other nations in favor of the hybrid model, the PCB may need to reconsider its decision. If the hybrid model is accepted, India’s matches may take place in the UAE, with one semifinal and the final possibly held outside Pakistan.
The tentative schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy had India’s matches in Lahore, with the tournament scheduled to run from February 19 to March 9. If Pakistan accepts the hybrid model, it could take a strong stance, refusing to travel to India for future multi-nation tournaments. Pakistan’s last visit to India was for the 2023 World Cup, while India’s last visit to Pakistan was in 2008 for the Asia Cup.
