New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra made history by scoring his first Test century against India at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This remarkable achievement took place on Day 3 of the first Test, where he faced 124 balls to reach the milestone.

With this century, Rachin ended a 12-year drought for New Zealand, as he became the first Kiwi player to score a Test hundred in India since Ross Taylor’s 113 runs at the same venue in 2012. Rachin’s love for Bengaluru shone brightly when he faced Ravichandran Ashwin in the 80th over, just before lunch. He swept a delivery behind square leg for a boundary, marking his second Test hundred.
Rachin celebrated the milestone by hugging Tim Southee, while his teammates and fans in the stadium gave him a standing ovation.
As for India, they find themselves in a precarious position with New Zealand building a significant lead of over 300 runs. The pressure is on the Indian team to take wickets quickly, aiming to dismiss the Black Caps before Tea. As of now, the partnership between Rachin and Southee has grown to 112 runs, with New Zealand leading by 299 runs. With only two days remaining, India must bat strongly to salvage something from this Test match.
