India’s rising star Nitish Reddy showcased an outstanding performance in just his second T20 international, helping India secure a commanding win over Bangladesh in the second T20I held in Delhi on October 9. At only 21 years old, Reddy is already proving to be a crucial player for Indian cricket, displaying his all-round abilities with both bat and ball.

After a shaky start, with India losing three wickets early in the powerplay, Reddy stepped up when the team needed him most. Coming in under pressure, he delivered a spectacular knock, smashing 74 runs off just 34 balls. Moreover, his innings featured four boundaries and seven towering sixes, ultimately breaking Rohit Sharma’s record for the most sixes in a T20I match between India and Bangladesh.

Nitish Reddy Sets Unique Record

Reddy’s impressive knock, alongside Rinku Singh’s 53 off 29 balls, helped India recover and build a strong foundation, posting a total of 221/9. Their 108-run partnership for the fourth wicket was pivotal in the team’s resurgence. Reddy’s heroics didn’t stop with the bat, as he also claimed two wickets, becoming the first Indian cricketer to score over 70 runs and take two wickets in a single T20I match. His exceptional all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award, with comparisons already being drawn to Hardik Pandya.

On the bowling side, India dominated Bangladesh’s batting lineup. Arshdeep Singh provided an early breakthrough, and wickets continued to fall regularly. Mahmudullah Riyad was the only Bangladeshi batter to offer resistance, scoring 41 off 39 balls, but Bangladesh managed only 135/9 in 20 overs.

India sealed the series 2-0 with an 86-run win. They will now aim for a clean sweep in the final T20I, scheduled for October 12 in Hyderabad.
