India’s top-ranked T20I batter, Suryakumar Yadav, is poised to return to international cricket in the upcoming four-match T20I series against South Africa, starting on November 8. After nearly a month-long break, he is eager to resume his prolific form. Suryakumar will look to make an impact and achieve several milestones in the series. After a brief hiatus of nearly a month, Suryakumar is ready to take on the Proteas and has set his sights on surpassing India’s cricketing giants, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, to become the Indian batsman with the most T20I runs against South Africa.

Currently, Suryakumar is 49 runs behind Kohli, who has scored 394 runs in 14 T20Is against the Proteas, and 84 runs away from Rohit, who holds the record with 429 runs in 18 matches. As the third-highest run-scorer in Men’s T20I cricket, Suryakumar Yadav is eyeing these milestones. Moreover, South Africa’s David Miller leads the chart with 452 runs in 21 T20Is.
In addition to the run chase, Suryakumar is also close to another remarkable feat. He is just six sixes away from becoming the third player in T20I history to hit 150 sixes. Currently tied for third with West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran at 144 sixes, Suryakumar is on track to join the elite company of Rohit Sharma (205 sixes) and Martin Guptill (172 sixes).
With the series scheduled across Durban, Gqeberha, Centurion, and Johannesburg on November 8, 10, 13, and 15, respectively, Suryakumar will, therefore, be eager to make history and continue his prolific form in the T20I format. Additionally, he will be looking to capitalize on this opportunity to break records and further cement his place among India’s cricketing elite.
