The ceremony featured Khalid Jasim Saif Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, as the chief guest. He was accompanied by notable figures, including Khalaf Bukhatir, CEO of Sharjah Cricket; Waleed Bukhatir, Member of the Emirates Cricket Board; Mazhar Khan, General Manager of Sharjah Cricket Stadium; and Eisa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council.

During the event, Midfa emphasized the tournament’s potential to enhance tourism in the Emirates. He highlighted that the ICC event will feature 23 matches across two venues: Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Dubai International Stadium.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium holds a prestigious legacy, having hosted 299 international matches—the most of any venue globally. It also boasts the record for the highest number of One Day Internationals (ODIs) played at a single location. These achievements have solidified the stadium’s status as a beloved venue among cricket fans worldwide.

Midfa remarked on the city’s recognition through sports, stating, “Many people know the city because of this sport. See how effective it is,” as reported by Gulf Today.

Initially, Bangladesh was to host the tournament; however, due to ongoing political unrest, the ICC decided to relocate it to the UAE. Midfa expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for their cooperation with the ICC in this matter.
