On Saturday, June 29, India and South Africa will clash in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at Kensington Oval in Barbados. The ICC has begun preparations for this highly anticipated event.
Ahead of the final match, ICC has extended invitations to all board members to attend the event at Kensington Oval. This includes PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is expected to be present in the stands for the finals.
According to reports from Geo Super TV, ICC is also organizing a meeting between board members before the final. It’s expected that BCCI chairman Roger Binny and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi will discuss the ICC Champions Trophy controversy. They aim to find common ground on hosting arrangements and travel concerns for the upcoming tournaments. This dialogue is crucial amid ongoing tensions between the two cricket boards.
Currently, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s home minister, is traveling for an important United Nations meeting.
Tensions between PCB and BCCI have been simmering since the Asia Cup 2023, when India declined to travel to Pakistan for the fifty-over event, eventually leading to a compromise on a hybrid model. Similar challenges have arisen for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, slated to be hosted by Pakistan. While BCCI has expressed reluctance for India to travel to Pakistan and proposed a hybrid model, PCB remains steadfast in its decision to host the tournament in Pakistan.
