Sha’Carri Richardson Easily Reaches 100m Semifinals at Paris 2024 Olympics

American track star Sha’Carri Richardson made a strong impression on her Olympic debut by clocking 10.94 seconds to reach the women’s 100m semi-finals at Paris 2024 Olympics. At 24 years old, Richardson is the reigning 100m world champion and enters the Games as the favorite for Saturday’s final.

Richardson has had a stellar year, posting the fastest time of 10.71 seconds in June. On Friday, August 2nd, she comfortably won her Round One heat at the Stade de France, advancing to the semi-finals with the fourth fastest time overall. Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith led the field with a time of 10.87 seconds, followed by sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and British contender Daryll Neita, both clocking 10.92 seconds.

The women’s 100m semi-final will start at 19:50 local time on Saturday, and the final will follow at 21:20 that night. Among the competitors in the final, Jamaica’s Fraser-Pryce expects to be a significant challenger to Richardson. With her strong form and the fastest time of the year, Richardson aims to make a mark and potentially secure her first Olympic gold.
