Following the judges’ announcement, an ecstatic Wu Yu celebrated by dancing around the ring. “Today I gave them a dance. I love to dance,” Wu said. “This is my first time at the Olympic Games. Many people tried to qualify, and I’m so happy to win the gold medal. I have trained very hard, and all that hard work paid off. I won the gold for my team, my coach, and my country.”

Cakiroglu, who had hoped for gold, expressed disappointment with the result, stating, “I gave 100 percent in the ring, but I don’t think the score was fair. It was unfair. If I have to have silver here, then so be it. Unfortunately, the score wasn’t right.” Despite her frustration, she reflected on her achievements: “I can’t feel the difference between these two silvers. We have worked so hard, and it comes down to one day after three years. Getting to the final again means so much. We will see for the next Games in Los Angeles 2028.”
