KTM emerged as a potential destination for Marc Marquez during his deliberations about leaving Honda last year, although the six-time MotoGP champion ultimately chose Ducati’s satellite Gresini team.
However, Marquez’s contract with Gresini lasts only a single season, leaving the door open for potential future moves, including joining KTM.
While KTM already boasts Brad Binder under contract until 2026 and rising star Pedro Acosta impressing in MotoGP, the addition of Marquez could significantly bolster the team’s chances of securing its first premier class title.
When asked about the prospect of signing Marquez, whom he previously worked with in the 125cc class, KTM team manager Guidotti expressed enthusiasm about the idea of having the six-time champion alongside Acosta, dubbing it a “dream team.”

“We already have Pedro, so we are in a good position regarding decisions to be made,” Guidotti stated. “But I won’t hide that I would love to have Marc anyway. Having both of them would be amazing.”
Acosta, the reigning Moto2 champion, has garnered comparisons to Marquez and showcased his talent during the opening round in Qatar. Despite encountering physical issues and tire wear, Acosta made an impressive pass on Marquez for fourth place before finishing ninth.
Reflecting on Acosta’s debut in MotoGP, Guidotti praised his adaptability and quick learning, emphasizing the importance of gaining experience by competing at the front of the pack rather than settling for mid-pack positions.
“Pedro immediately felt comfortable with the bike, which is crucial,” Guidotti remarked. “He’s learning rapidly and capitalized on the opportunity to race alongside the top riders. A rookie learns more from competing with the top five for half a race than from finishing 15th after 22 laps.”
