Ducati has reportedly unveiled a strategic plan aimed at retaining Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin for the 2025 MotoGP season.
As the lineup for the 2025 MotoGP season remains uncertain, with speculations surrounding who will partner Pecco Bagnaia, Ducati is taking proactive steps to keep their star riders in the fold.
According to reports from Sky Italia, Ducati is committed to doing everything possible to retain both Marquez and Martin for the upcoming season. This move comes amidst pressure on Enea Bastianini to maintain his position within the team, facing competition from standout performers at Gresini and Pramac.
Ducati’s proposed plan involves promoting Martin to the factory team, replacing Bastianini, while Marquez would transition from Gresini to Pramac. This strategic move aims to provide both riders with factory-spec machinery, a crucial factor in their decision-making process.
However, Ducati has decided not to finalize their decision by the Mugello deadline, extending the waiting period for Marquez, Martin, and Bastianini.
Martin, currently leading the championship, has been vocal about his desire to join the factory team, emphasizing his willingness to leave Ducati if not given the opportunity.
Marquez, who made a significant move to Ducati this year, has expressed his preference for a factory-spec bike for the 2025 season, indicating potential flexibility in his stance regarding team placement.
Nevertheless, Ducati’s plan is contingent upon the riders’ agreement and Pramac’s decision to remain a Ducati satellite team. Pramac holds the option to switch to Yamaha in 2025, a move that could disrupt Ducati’s rider retention strategy.
As negotiations continue, Ducati remains focused on securing their lineup for the upcoming season, aiming to maintain their competitive edge in the MotoGP championship.
