Oliver Bearman’s impressive debut in Formula 1, where he finished seventh, has led Ferrari Driver Academy head Jock Clear to assert that Bearman is ready for a full-time seat in the sport.
Clear expressed his confidence in Oliver Bearman’s abilities, stating that Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur’s decision to field the 18-year-old showcased the team’s high expectations for him. “I was convinced before that and I think the fact that Fred was brave enough to put him in this car this weekend, under the circumstances, speaks volumes for what we’ve seen of him already,” Clear remarked.
Bearman’s debut, filling in for the unwell Carlos Sainz Jnr, exceeded expectations, according to Clear. Despite missing the opportunity for practice sessions on Thursday, Bearman’s performance on short notice was highly commendable.

Clear emphasized Bearman’s intelligent approach to the race, highlighting his ability to adapt quickly and make sound decisions under pressure. Despite the challenging circumstances and limited practice time, Bearman’s maturity and composure were evident throughout the race.
Clear also praised Bearman’s intelligent driving style, noting his ability to think strategically and handle high-pressure situations effectively. He highlighted Bearman’s resilience during the final laps of the race, where he successfully defended his position against seasoned drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris.
Overall, Clear expressed pride in Bearman’s debut performance and emphasized his belief in Bearman’s potential for success in Formula 1.
