Aston Martin Extends Lance Stroll’s Contract Beyond 2025

Lance Stroll will continue driving for Aston Martin next year and beyond, as announced by the team. This new contract ensures Stroll will have spent at least eight years at his father Lawrence’s Formula 1 team.

Stroll joined the team in 2019, when it was known as Racing Point. Following Lawrence Stroll’s purchase of the Aston Martin brand, the team was rebranded under the iconic car manufacturer’s name.

“I’m super-happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond,” Lance Stroll expressed. “It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years. We’ve grown so much as a team and there’s still so much more to look forward to.”

Fernando Alonso, who joined Stroll at Aston Martin last year, also extended his contract earlier this year. The recent news confirms that the pair will remain teammates when F1 introduces its next set of technical regulations in 2026. The 42-year-old, two-time world champion has stated that Stroll will lead Aston Martin once he retires.

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack praised Stroll, saying, “Lance has played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, alongside his committed simulator work, has helped contribute to the continuous development of the car each season. The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realize our ambitions. We look forward to creating some more incredible memories and achieving further success together.”

With this extension, Aston Martin becomes the fourth team to officially confirm their driver line-up for 2025. Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren have also set their pairings for the next year. Although Stroll’s place at the team was never in doubt, this announcement solidifies the team’s continuity and stability moving forward.
