Spurs advance in the FA Cup after a hard-fought victory over Burnley, courtesy of Pedro Porro’s magnificent strike.

Tottenham secured a spot in the FA Cup fourth round with a narrow victory against Burnley, thanks to Pedro Porro’s sensational goal. In a match where both teams battled fiercely, Spurs ultimately emerged victorious despite missing club captain Son Heung-min, who was away on international duty.
The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when Porro seized an opportunity, intercepting a throw from Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric and striking a remarkable shot from 25 yards out, finding the top corner of the net with precision. It marked Porro’s first goal of the season since his permanent transfer from Sporting Lisbon.
While Burnley had their chances, with Zeki Amdouni missing a crucial opportunity in the first half, they were unable to convert their opportunities. Muric’s late attempt from a corner almost equalized the scoreline, but Amdouni’s volleyed effort couldn’t find the target, leaving Burnley disappointed.

The defeat adds to Burnley’s recent struggles, with five losses in their last seven matches across competitions, leaving them 19th in the Premier League and emphasizing the need to focus on avoiding relegation.
The draw for the FA Cup fourth round will take place on Monday, 8 January, after the Wigan Athletic vs. Manchester United match.
Spurs, under manager Ange Postecoglou, fielded a strong lineup, highlighting their intent to make a significant impact in the competition. Despite missing key players due to international duty, Tottenham showcased their determination, although they missed Son’s attacking prowess.
Postecoglou’s side created several opportunities throughout the game, with Richarlison, Brennan Johnson, and others testing Burnley’s goalkeeper, Muric. The match saw missed chances from both sides before Porro’s remarkable strike secured Tottenham’s progress in the tournament.
