Manchester United Intensify Efforts to Offload Casemiro Before Transfer Deadline

Manchester United have accelerated talks with agents to secure a transfer for Casemiro before Monday’s 11 PM deadline, according to reports.

The 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder has struggled to maintain his form since arriving at Old Trafford for £70 million in 2022. His performances have drawn increasing scrutiny from fans and pundits, and he has found himself out of favor under new manager Rúben Amorim. Casemiro has not started a game since United’s 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle on December 30, where he was substituted after 64 minutes.

United Seeking Buyers Amid Saudi Interest

Casemiro was previously linked with Galatasaray last summer, but a move failed to materialize. Now, according to the Manchester Evening News, United are actively working with agents to find a buyer before the winter transfer window closes.

A move to the Saudi Pro League remains a strong possibility, with Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly pushing for Casemiro’s arrival. Having played together at Real Madrid and United, Ronaldo believes Casemiro’s presence would enhance Al-Nassr’s squad and boost the league’s commercial appeal. Additionally, the slower pace of Saudi football could suit Casemiro at this stage of his career.

Casemiro Falls Further Down the United Pecking Order

With 18 months left on his contract, Casemiro’s United future looks increasingly bleak. Toby Collyer, an academy prospect, was preferred over him in last week’s 2-0 Europa League win over FCSB, signaling Amorim’s long-term vision. United’s current first-choice midfield pairing of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, along with Christian Eriksen, have all been selected ahead of Casemiro in recent matches.

Speaking about Casemiro’s exclusion, Amorim emphasized tactical preferences over reputation:
“He has to have the right characteristics for how I see the game. I have to make choices based on that, and that’s all there is to it.”
