Chelsea are contemplating a surprising move for Jadon Sancho, potentially facilitating a Manchester United exit for the winger through a swap deal involving Raheem Sterling.

Sancho, a former Borussia Dortmund star, seems increasingly sidelined at Old Trafford. A high-profile dispute with manager Erik ten Hag led to his temporary return to Germany last season. Although he is now back in contention, he was notably absent from United’s squad for their-recent 2-1 defeat to Brighton.

Although rumors have linked Sancho with Juventus, Chelsea might offer him an opportunity to stay in the Premier League. Reports suggest that Chelsea are interested in acquiring Sancho and are exploring various terms for a potential deal. To facilitate the transfer, Chelsea may need to offload several players before the window closes.

According to Mail Online, Chelsea are considering moving on at least six players, with Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell being potential candidates for a swap deal involving Sancho. Both players have fallen out of favor at Stamford Bridge, and new manager Enzo Maresca has indicated they may be better off seeking opportunities elsewhere.

Maresca addressed the situation candidly, stating, “I try to be honest. If it’s not clear, I spoke with Raheem before the City game and said he would struggle to get minutes with us, which is why he was left out of the squad. As for Chilwell, he’s a lovely guy, but his position will make it challenging for him.”

He added, “I’m not saying Raheem is not a good player, but I prefer different kinds of wingers. That’s the reason behind the decision.”

In parallel, Erik ten Hag has provided insight into Sancho’s exclusion from the squad against Brighton. The Dutchman explained, “Sancho was at the stadium, but I had to make a choice. We need a full squad to manage the season’s demands. He has to compete for his place, and we will assess his situation game by game.”

Sancho, aged 24, has two years remaining on his contract with Manchester United. His only appearance this season was a brief seven-minute stint in the Community Shield loss to Manchester City.

As the transfer window progresses, Chelsea’s potential move for Sancho, coupled with the possibility of a swap deal, could reshape the dynamics for both clubs.
