Manchester City Report Record Revenue Amid Premier League Charges and Derby Build-Up

Manchester City have announced record revenues of £715 million for the latest season, a slight increase from their Treble-winning 2022-23 campaign. This figure surpasses local rivals Manchester United by over £43 million, reinforcing City’s dominance both on and off the pitch as they gear up for Sunday’s Manchester derby.

While their profits have dipped from £80.4 million to £73.8 million, City achieved an impressive £139 million in player sales during a season where Pep Guardiola led them to their fourth successive Premier League title. The club also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup final, just a year after completing the historic Treble.

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak praised the club’s ongoing ambition and strategic planning: “Our consistent ambition to target and achieve the unprecedented is a mark of the organisation that we have become. This organisational approach is now part of our DNA, rooted in a culture of collaboration and constant improvement.”

As City look to get their season back on track following a difficult run of form—losing seven of their last 10 games—they face off against United, aiming to regain momentum ahead of their next match. However, the club remains embroiled in a significant legal battle with the Premier League, facing 130 charges over alleged financial inaccuracies between 2009 and 2018. The club’s annual report acknowledged these charges but maintained that they had submitted “irrefutable” proof supporting their position to an independent commission.

Off the pitch, City continue to dominate global viewership, with 694 million TV viewers watching their matches last season. The club also led the Premier League in social media engagement, generating 10 billion video views across Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok.

Ferran Soriano, City’s CEO, reflected on the club’s achievements: “Our fourth consecutive Premier League title was an achievement that took Manchester City to a place where no other English club has ever been. Winning the Treble the previous season did not generate any sense of complacency. We understand that the relentless pursuit of excellence requires hard work and resilience.”

With these remarkable achievements, Manchester City are firmly positioned as one of the most successful and influential clubs in world football, even as they face challenges on and off the field.
