Piers Morgan Criticizes Erik ten Hag over Handling of Ronaldo and Sancho

Piers Morgan has renewed his criticism of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, accusing him of struggling to manage world-class players effectively.

Morgan’s discontent with Ten Hag dates back to a contentious interview with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2022. Where Ronaldo accused the Dutch manager of disrespect and attempted coercion out of the club.

Subsequently, Ronaldo’s contract was mutually terminated, leading him to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, where he has enjoyed prolific success.

Another player to face discord under Ten Hag’s tenure is Jadon Sancho. Who publicly clashed with the manager over selection decisions. Sancho’s dispute stemmed from Ten Hag’s explanation for omitting him from a match against Arsenal. Attributing it to his training performances. Sancho, in response, refused to apologize and was subsequently loaned back to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Ten Hag's

Sancho’s recent stellar performance for Dortmund in the Champions League semifinal further fueled criticism of Ten Hag’s management.

Morgan, taking to social media, highlighted Sancho’s success away from United and suggested that the issues at the club stem from the manager’s inability to handle top-tier players effectively.

Former Scotland striker Ally McCoist echoed sentiments of Sancho’s resurgence at Dortmund. Noting a notable improvement in his demeanor and performance since returning to the Bundesliga club.

McCoist observed Sancho’s regained confidence and vitality, attributing it to his favorable environment and reception at Dortmund. Indicating a revitalized player compared to his time at Manchester United.
