Manchester United and Liverpool are poised to miss out on signing French wonderkid Leny Yoro, as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has made a €50 million (£43 million) bid that Lille has accepted. The 18-year-old centre-back, who has drawn comparisons to Arsenal’s William Saliba. Has also attracted interest from Real Madrid, who remain in contention for his signature.

Lille faces pressure to sell Yoro, who is in the final year of his contract, after narrowly missing automatic qualification for the Champions League. Yoro’s impressive season, featuring 44 appearances across all competitions and a run to the Conference League quarter-finals, has significantly raised his profile.

French outlet Sports Zone reports that PSG has moved quickly to secure Yoro. Though the player reportedly prefers a move to Real Madrid. While Real Madrid has convinced Yoro of their project. Lille’s urgent need for funds might see him head to Paris instead.

Yoro, who made his first-team debut for Lille at just 16, is considered one of Europe’s most promising young defenders. He is eligible to represent both France and the Ivory Coast at the international level. Lille manager Paulo Fonseca has praised Yoro’s maturity and technical skills, predicting a bright future for him.

“It’s not normal to have an 18-year-old player like Leny with this maturity and technical qualities he has,” said Fonseca. “For me, he will be one of the best central defenders in France and probably in Europe. He is very balanced, and there is no doubt that he will be a very great player.”

Both Manchester United and Liverpool are in the market for a centre-back this summer. United recently announced the departure of Raphael Varane at the end of his contract. While Liverpool’s Joel Matip will also leave after a season marred by an ACL injury.

United is also eyeing Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, valued at around £80 million, and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo. With potential assistance from INEOS due to their links with the club.

Liverpool, on the other hand, has shown interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho, a 22-year-old Ecuadorian who impressed in his first Bundesliga season and is valued between €50 million and €60 million (£43 million and £52 million).

As the summer transfer window approaches, the race to secure top defensive talent heats up, but it appears that Yoro is slipping out of reach for Manchester United and Liverpool.
