Chelsea’s search for attacking reinforcements continues as the club explores potential deals ahead of the closing stages of the January transfer window. The Blues are reportedly in talks with Manchester United over a possible swap deal that could see winger Alejandro Garnacho move to Stamford Bridge in exchange for Christopher Nkunku.

While Chelsea has predominantly focused on player departures this month, manager Enzo Maresca is still eyeing potential additions to bolster his squad. The club faces fierce competition for places in the attacking line, with Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, and Nkunku already in contention for the wide positions. However, Nkunku’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain, with sources suggesting he is dissatisfied with his current game time.

The absence of Mykhailo Mudryk due to suspension has only added to Chelsea’s attacking woes, further fueling Maresca’s desire for an additional winger. Reports also suggest that the team could seek a striker to challenge Nicolas Jackson for the starting spot.

In the midst of these developments, Chelsea is reportedly considering a swap deal involving Nkunku and Manchester United’s Garnacho.

Although discussions between the two clubs took place in December, sources close to the matter indicate that negotiations are still in the early stages. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the talks, noting that while discussions are ongoing, the deal remains “not concrete, close, or advanced.”

The market values estimate Nkunku at £70 million, and Manchester United could swap him for Garnacho, valued at £60 million. However, Chelsea faces competition for the Argentine’s signature, with Napoli also previously in discussions with Manchester United. Nevertheless, Napoli appears to have shifted its focus toward Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, potentially removing them from the race for Garnacho.

As the January window nears its end, Chelsea is keen to strengthen its squad for the second half of the season, with Maresca working to secure key signings to improve the team’s attacking options.
