Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has encouraged the Red Devils to consider a move for Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Alexander-Arnold has become a crucial player for Liverpool since emerging from their academy and is recognized as one of the most productive defenders globally. However, Yorke believes Manchester United could capitalize on his situation at Anfield to secure a sensational transfer, similar to his earlier suggestion that United should sign Leroy Sane.
Yorke’s comments come as Alexander-Arnold faces a transitional period at Liverpool. He will be playing under new manager Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp. Yorke suggests that if Liverpool struggles under Slot and Alexander-Arnold becomes unhappy, Manchester United should act swiftly to sign him.
Speaking to Best Online Poker Sites, Yorke said, “I’m not sure Trent Alexander-Arnold would want to leave Liverpool as it’s his boyhood club, but Liverpool will be under transition now Jurgen Klopp has left. Maybe, Alexander-Arnold can evolve as a midfielder under Slot. This could be another opportunity where, if Liverpool don’t perform under Slot and Alexander-Arnold becomes unhappy. Man United should do everything they can to sign him. I was the first person to suggest that Man United should have signed Leroy Sane when he started to become frustrated at Man City. Now he’s one of the best players in Germany. Alexander-Arnold may have a similar opportunity which Man United should pounce on.”

Alexander-Arnold, 25, has just one year remaining on his Liverpool contract. This summer could be Liverpool’s final chance to secure a significant fee for his transfer.
The England defender has also been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. He has expressed his thoughts on new Liverpool boss Slot, telling Sky Sports in May, “I hope so [to have a smooth transition under Slot]. I have trust in the club and who we’ve appointed. As a player, that’s all you can ask for: to have trust in what the higher-ups have brought in. I’m sure it will be a smooth transition.”
While Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, his immediate focus is on his England commitments. The Three Lions will face Slovakia in the last-16 of Euro 2024 on Sunday evening in Gelsenkirchen.
