Man Utd Moves Forward with £59m Leny Yoro Transfer Despite Injury Risks

Manchester United moved forward with the £59million transfer of Lille’s Leny Yoro despite medical scans revealing a potential issue. The highly-rated 18-year-old defender, who was also courted by Real Madrid. Was signed by United with the understanding that he might face injury setbacks.

Yoro’s medical examination highlighted a potential metatarsal problem, which has since materialized into a significant issue. The young defender fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during his second match for United against Rangers. Prior to this, United had managed his involvement carefully. Limiting him to 50 percent of their training sessions, according to the Athletic.

Despite the risk, United proceeded with transfer, banking on Yoro’s potential to be a top performer for years to come. The club had anticipated such risks and planned for them by also acquiring Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich. De Ligt, who has previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, is expected to be a regular fixture in the defense as Yoro recovers.
