Liverpool has emerged as a potential suitor for Napoli’s electrifying winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with rumors intensifying following the Georgian star’s impressive performances in recent years. Former Reds boss Jürgen Klopp’s past comments about Kvaratskhelia underscore the winger’s talent, sparking excitement among fans about the prospect of him joining the Merseyside club.
Kvaratskhelia first caught Liverpool’s attention during a standout performance against them in the 2022 Champions League. Despite Liverpool winning 2-0, the then-21-year-old showcased his skills, leaving Klopp particularly impressed. Reflecting on the match, Klopp said:
“He is a good player. Really quick, cheeky, and difficult to defend. When he has the advantage of the first moment, then he is already gone. You need to be in the moment because he can go inside, outside—it always makes him difficult.”
Reports from The Liverpool Echo suggest that Liverpool has monitored Kvaratskhelia’s progress since that game, although Paris Saint-Germain currently leads the race for his signature. Reds manager Arne Slot addressed the transfer rumors during a pre-match press conference, dismissing them as speculative.
“This is January, and as always, speculation is rampant,” Slot remarked. “Nine out of 10 or even 99 out of 100 of these stories aren’t true by the end of the window. No comment from my side, as this is just part of the transfer season.”
Despite Slot’s measured response, Kvaratskhelia’s situation at Napoli remains uncertain. Contract renewal talks have reportedly stalled, and rumors suggest the winger has requested a transfer. This uncertainty, combined with Liverpool’s history of savvy recruitment, keeps the door open for a possible bid.
