Liverpool have entered a new era with Arne Slot taking over as manager after Jurgen Klopp’s departure. The Reds experienced significant success under Klopp, and the club hopes this momentum will continue under Slot. However, the summer transfer window has so far seen more outgoings than incomings, with no new signings yet announced.
Several players have left the club following the expiration of their contracts, including Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip. Additionally, defender Calvin Ramsay has been loaned to League One side Wigan Athletic.
Kimmich Boost
Liverpool have received positive news in their pursuit of Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich. According to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern Munich is open to selling Kimmich if they receive a ‘suitable offer,’ as they currently have no plans to discuss a new contract with the 29-year-old. Kimmich’s current contract will expire next summer.
The report suggests that Kimmich’s exit is ‘getting closer,’ with the midfielder expressing interest in joining a select few clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, or Barcelona.
Kvaratskhelia Blow
Liverpool’s interest in Georgia star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has hit a snag, as Napoli is determined to retain the 23-year-old. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis stated, “There are no problems with Kvara because we have a contract. We’ll make an offer for a new deal, so I see no problems for him. That being said, somebody can even offer contracts to the players without the club’s authorisation.”

New Napoli manager Antonio Conte echoed this sentiment, insisting, “He’ll stay. I feel no doubts. I repeat, there is no need to have them. I have been very categorical about this. I wouldn’t even want this refrain to happen again in the future. The president gave this wonderful news.”
Guler Warning
Reports from Spain indicate that Liverpool have approached Real Madrid regarding a potential move for Arda Guler, following his impressive performances for Turkey at Euro 2024. However, former footballer Emmanuel Petit has advised caution, suggesting Liverpool should prioritize other targets.
Petit told bet365, “I think that Liverpool need other players before they bring in Arda Guler. I don’t know what the new manager wants to do, but you have to be careful when signing players on the back of them shining at a major tournament after they haven’t yet made an impact at club level.
“You get all the expectation and the fascination, but the competition is different to domestic football, so some players sometimes shine and all of a sudden when they come back to the club they become average. So you have to be very careful about that.”
As Liverpool navigates this summer’s transfer market, the club’s decisions on incoming and outgoing players will be crucial in shaping their prospects for the upcoming season. Fans eagerly await further developments and the official announcement of new signings to bolster the squad.
