Emma Hayes on USWNT’s Olympic Triumph: ‘The Biggest Achievement of My Career’

The United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) secured their fifth Olympic gold on Saturday, 10 August, with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Brazil, marking a historic moment in the career of head coach Emma Hayes. For Hayes, a British manager who has achieved every possible honor with Chelsea. Leading the USWNT to this triumph stands as the pinnacle of her professional journey.

“Hayes reflected, ‘I have loved Chelsea.'” “Every trophy I won with that club is dear to me. But this professionally is probably much bigger than anything else I have ever done.”

Emma Hayes, known for her winning mentality, believes she has reignited the competitive fire within the USWNT, ending their 12 year wait for Olympic gold. “I’m accustomed to being in finals and competing for trophies, and the U.S. women’s national team is as well,” she explained. “The mentality is why I love the country; it’s why I am made for it.”

The victory was especially emotional for Emma Hayes, who dedicated it to her late father. Visibly moved after the match, she kissed her American eagle necklace, symbolizing a connection to her father who passed away a year ago. “Emma Hayes shared that the year has been rough.” “This time last year my dad was dying. I didn’t think I had the courage to come and do this. I felt him with me the whole performance.”

Reflecting on her journey, Hayes expressed deep gratitude for her parents, who she credited with shaping her career and life.
