Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, are set to participate in a four-nation invitational tournament scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan, during the March 2026 FIFA international window. The mini-tournament will feature Nigeria, Iran, Jordan, and Costa Rica, providing valuable preparation matches for the participating teams.

The competition will begin on March 27, 2026, when Nigeria faces Iran at the Amman International Stadium. On the same day, hosts Jordan will play Costa Rica at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. The tournament will conclude on March 31, with Nigeria scheduled to play against Jordan while Iran faces Costa Rica.

For Nigeria, the tournament represents an important opportunity to test the squad and prepare for future competitions. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has described the event as part of its long-term development plan aimed at strengthening the national team and giving players more international exposure. The matches will allow the coaching staff to assess new talents and improve team chemistry ahead of upcoming tournaments, including preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles last played against Iran during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where the match ended in a 0-0 draw. The upcoming encounter will therefore offer both teams another chance to test their abilities against each other on the international stage.

However, there have been some concerns surrounding the tournament due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which could potentially affect Iran’s participation or the overall schedule. Organizers and football authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety of all teams involved.

Despite the uncertainty, the tournament promises to deliver competitive football and provide valuable match experience for Nigeria as they continue to build toward future international challenges.
