Sherfane Rutherford’s maiden ODI century guided West Indies to a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh in St Kitts, ending their 11-match losing streak against them. Chasing a target of 295, West Indies reached 295 for 5, with Rutherford scoring 113 off 80 balls. His explosive knock included seven fours and eight sixes, turning the game around after a slow start. West Indies were struggling at 134 for 4 but Rutherford’s partnership with captain Shai Hope (86 off 88 balls) put them back on track. Rutherford added 99 runs with Hope for the fourth wicket, and then 95 more with Justin Greaves (41* off 31 balls) for the fifth wicket, guiding West Indies to victory with 14 balls remaining.

Rutherford’s century came with consecutive sixes off Soumya Sarkar, and he sealed the match with a catch when just seven runs were needed. His 94 runs in 51 balls changed the momentum of the chase. Rutherford now has five consecutive 50-plus scores in ODIs, joining a select list of West Indies players to achieve this feat.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted 294 for 6, driven by Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 74 and Tanzid Hasan’s 60. Mahmudullah (50* off 44 balls) and Jaker Ali (48 off 40 balls) added 96 runs for the sixth wicket in the final stages. West Indies bowler Romario Shepherd claimed 3 wickets for 51 runs, while Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales supported well. Despite a solid start by Bangladesh, Rutherford’s batting brilliance ensured the home side successfully chased down the target.
