West Indies, two-time winners, secure their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 round, joining India, South Africa, and Australia. South Africa and Australia qualified first, followed by India from Group A, and now Indie’s after defeating New Zealand by 13 runs.

West Indies’ qualification marks them as the first team from Group C to advance. Their journey includes a narrow win over Papua New Guinea, a dominant victory against Uganda, and now a solid performance against New Zealand. With this defeat, New Zealand’s chances of progressing to the Super 8s are slim.
Facing a challenging start, West Indies found themselves at 76 for 7 in the 13th over. However, Sherfane Rutherford’s unbeaten 68 off 39 balls, supported by key partnerships with Andre Russell, Romario Shepherd, and Akeal Hosein, propelled them to a competitive total of 149.
Despite a promising start by New Zealand’s Finn Allen, Indies’ strong bowling performance limited them to 136 for 9. Glenn Phillips fought with a 40 off 33 balls, but lacked support as West Indies secured their place in the Super 8 stage.
