Adelaide Crowd Misbehaves With Kohli, Rohit During Team India’s Net Session

India is set to face Australia in the second Test of the five-match series on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval. The visitors lead 1-0, and the upcoming day-night Test is crucial for both teams.

Adelaide Crowd Misbehaves With Kohli, Rohit During Team India's Net Session

Ahead of the game, the Indian players have been practicing hard in the nets. However, their preparation was disrupted by unruly fan behavior during the net session. Reports indicate that around 3,000 fans attended to watch the Indian players train, significantly more than the 70-odd attendees during Australia’s session.

The players faced rude comments, body-shaming, and inappropriate demands. Senior BCCI officials revealed that the situation was chaotic, with fans targeting players like Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill.

“Virat and Shubman could have been mobbed. Some fans were on Facebook Live, talking loudly as batters took their stance,” said a BCCI source. The crowd reportedly made unusual demands, including asking one player to greet them in Gujarati, while another was body-shamed.

Such behavior disrupted the training environment, forcing authorities to take action. Net sessions will now be held behind closed doors to avoid similar incidents. A fan-oriented session planned before the Sydney Test has also been canceled as a precaution.

This incident highlights the challenges players face during public training sessions, where large crowds can compromise both safety and focus. The BCCI is now prioritizing the players’ comfort and security as India prepares for the Adelaide Test.
