During a recent Vitality Blast 2024 match between Hampshire and Kent, Chris Wood displayed exceptional sportsmanship.
While bowling, Wood delivered a full toss to Joey Evison who hit the ball powerfully. Unfortunately, the ball struck Matthew Parkinson, the non-striking batsman, who was halfway down the pitch. Injured, Parkinson fell to the ground.

Despite a clear opportunity to run Parkinson out, chose not to. This act of compassion won praise from fans and highlighted the importance of sportsmanship in cricket.
Kent finished their innings with 165/9, with Wood being the pick of the Hampshire bowlers, taking 2 wickets for just 19 runs in his 4 overs. The fact that the game was nearing its conclusion likely influenced Wood’s decision as well.
