Sri Lanka’s emerging talent, Kamindu Mendis, has clinched the ICC Men’s Player of the Month title for March, triumphing over competitors from New Zealand and Ireland. This achievement elevates Mendis to the ranks of just three Sri Lankans to ever secure this prestigious accolade, following in the footsteps of Prabath Jayasuriya and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Mendis’s excellent performance in March demonstrated his skill in different types of cricket matches. He started the month with a great performance in the T20I series against Bangladesh, scoring 68 runs, with a notable 37 in the second match. His strong play continued into the Test series, where he showed outstanding batting ability.
Notably, Mendis‘s standout achievement was in the Test arena, where he notched centuries in both innings of the first Test against Bangladesh, making history as the first player batting at number seven or lower to achieve this feat. His remarkable comeback to the Sri Lankan setup, after a hiatus since 2022, underscores Mendis‘s resilience and determination, silencing any doubters along the way. In response to winning the award, Mendis expressed his gratitude and motivation to continue delivering impactful performances for his team, country, and fans, further solidifying his promising trajectory in international cricket.
