The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has unveiled the much-anticipated schedule for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024. The tournament will be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka from July 19 to July 28, promising a thrilling display of cricketing talent. This edition ignites the excitement for the timeless rivalry between India and Pakistan, as both teams find themselves placed in the same group, Group A.

Marking an exciting expansion from the previous edition, this year’s Women’s Cricket in Asia tournament welcomes eight nations to compete in the T20 format. Nepal joins the fray, making this a crucial preparatory ground for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Continuing the commitment showcased in the 2022 edition, the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 will feature all-female umpires and match referees. This decision reflects the growing stature of women’s cricket in the region. ACC President Jay Shah is eagerly awaiting the tournament, expecting it to enthrall players and fans alike. He anticipates an electrifying display of cricket.

“From six teams in 2018 to seven in 2022, and now eight, this expansion underscores our unwavering support for the women’s game and the burgeoning talent across Asian cricket. We anticipate an enthralling tournament that will serve as an inspiration to players and fans.”

India, the defending champions, are poised for a much-anticipated clash with arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, July 21. This promises to be a gripping encounter as India aims to maintain their stronghold in Group A, which also includes Nepal and UAE. Meanwhile, Group B features the previous edition’s runners-up Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand.
