KL Rahul’s struggles at the crease continue as his unusual dismissal in the second Test against Australia A at the MCG has left fans baffled. After scoring only 4 runs in the first innings, expectations were high for Rahul to make a comeback in the second. However, his dismissal became the main talking point, leaving fans disappointed and sparking debate online.
The dismissal was indeed unusual. On the first ball of the 18th over, Corey Rocchiccioli bowled a good-length off-break delivery targeting the middle stump. Expecting the ball to turn, Rahul opted to leave it. Yet, the ball held its line, struck his back pad, and went on to hit the stumps. Rahul returned to the pavilion with just ten runs off 44 balls, a dismissal fans have labeled a “brain-fade moment.”
Social media quickly reacted, with fans expressing their frustration. Many questioned why Rahul left a straight delivery, calling the dismissal odd and voicing their concerns over his current form. Some fans even suggested he take a break to regain confidence, while others bluntly stated that he needs to refocus.
This performance comes amid discussions of Rahul possibly moving up the batting order in the upcoming series, especially with Rohit Sharma expected to miss the opening game. His inconsistent form, however, has cast doubt on his readiness for this role.
India A’s overall batting performance also struggled in this match. At Stumps on Day 2, India A was at 73/5, holding a narrow lead of just 11 runs. Nitish Reddy and Dhruv Jurel, the current batsmen, are working to extend the lead and set a competitive target for Australia A.
