Sourav Ganguly Emphasizes Importance of First-Class Cricket for Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) terminated the central contracts of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, both notably absent from the recent announcement. Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly suggested their reluctance to play domestic cricket might be the cause.

Ganguly emphasized the importance of first-class cricket, expressing surprise at Iyer’s absence from Ranji Trophy matches and Kishan’s decision not to participate. He emphasized that contracted players must prioritize such premier tournaments.

While Mumbai’s squad named Iyer for the Ranji Trophy semifinal, Kishan is actively participating in the DY Patil T20 Cup. Sourav Ganguly expressed disappointment at Kishan’s absence from Ranji Trophy matches, given his stature and contract in IPL.
