Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma Break Babar-Rizwan’s Record with Huge T20I Partnership Feat

The Wanderers Stadium witnessed a six-hitting extravaganza as Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma decimated South Africa’s bowling in the 4th T20I. The Indian duo smashed centuries, powering India to a colossal 283/1 in their 20 overs, leaving the Proteas bowlers helpless.

Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma Break Babar-Rizwan’s Record with Huge T20I Partnership Feat

Batting first on a perfect pitch, India made the most of the conditions. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson started strongly with a fiery 73-run opening partnership. After Abhishek got out, Tilak Varma joined Samson, and the two launched a nonstop attack. Fours and sixes kept coming as South Africa had no way to stop them. Together, Samson and Tilak smashed 19 sixes, completely dominating the bowlers with their powerful hitting.

Both batters reached their centuries in style. For Samson, it marked his third T20I century and second in the series. Tilak, continuing his red-hot form, notched up his second consecutive T20I hundred. Their partnership remained unbroken at 210 runs, dominating every bowler who came their way.

This monumental stand also made history, as Samson and Tilak surpassed Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who had scored 203* against England in 2022. The Indian pair now holds the record for the sixth-highest T20I partnership for any wicket.

Tilak and Samson’s onslaught showcased cricket at its finest, with almost no chances given to the opposition. Had they batted through the innings, they could have surpassed the all-time T20I partnership record of 224*, held by Japan’s L Yamamoto-Lake and K Kadowaki-Fleming.

This incredible display of batting brilliance by Tilak and Samson not only secured a commanding position for India but also etched their names in the record books.
