Day three began with India resuming their innings at 421/7, but Joe Root and Rehan Ahmed’s spin wizardry saw India bowled out for 436. This gave England a lead of 190 as they entered their second innings.
While England lost Zak Crawley early, Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett steadied the ship with a 68-run partnership for the second wicket. Pope’s patient century in 154 balls demonstrated resilience. Despite losing Ben Stokes for six, Pope and Ben Foakes added 112 runs for the sixth wicket, securing a 100-plus run lead for England.
