Sanju Samson’s recent struggles in the ongoing India vs. England T20I series have drawn scrutiny. With poor performances in the first three matches, Samson is on the verge of joining Virat Kohli in an unwanted list of Indian batters with the most ducks in T20 internationals. If his form doesn’t improve in the 4th T20I, he could match Kohli, who has seven ducks in 117 innings, with Samson already having accumulated six ducks in 36 innings.

Rohit Sharma tops the list with 12 ducks in 151 innings, followed by Kohli and Samson. KL Rahul also features with five ducks in 72 innings. Samson’s recent form has been a major cause for concern, especially after a stellar 2024 where he became the first batter to score three T20I centuries in a calendar year. His recent performances, however, have been far from impressive, managing only 34 runs from three innings against England.
Despite these struggles, Samson is expected to feature in the remaining T20Is, as India hasn’t named a backup opener for the squad. For Samson, the key to turning things around lies in improving his approach to body-line deliveries, which have troubled him recently. His ability to bounce back and showcase his signature stroke play will be crucial as India looks to close out the series on a strong note against England.
