Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson shared his insights on their recent match against an interview. Samson expressed his thoughts on the pitch conditions at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, suggesting it wasn’t conducive to a high-scoring game.
In the first inning, Samson himself scored 18 runs from 15 balls, maintaining a strike rate of 120. He noted that while they aimed for a total closer to 160, the pitch dynamics didn’t align with their expectations.
“We were expecting the wicket to be a touch better. I think it’s not a 140-kind of wicket; we should have got around 160. I think that’s where we lost the game,” Samson remarked. He also highlighted the challenge of having limited bowling options but expressed confidence in the team’s five quality bowlers.
Regarding the team’s overall performance, Samson acknowledged the need to address their shortcomings. He emphasized the importance of individual players stepping up, particularly during crucial stages of the game.
“To be very honest, we have to sit back and accept that we are going through some failures. You have to find out what’s not working well as a team,” Samson commented. “When you are getting to the business end, we need someone to raise their finger up and say, ‘I am going to win the game for the team.’ We have players who can do that.”
Samson concluded by stressing the collective effort required in a team sport while highlighting the significance of individual contributions, especially in critical moments.
