Rohit Sharma, the former skipper of the Mumbai Indians (MI), has marked his return to the team’s lineup with an impressive performance against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Sharma, who arrived in Hyderabad for MI’s next clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), displayed his batting prowess despite MI’s narrow defeat to the Titans in Ahmedabad.

His dynamic knock of 43 runs off just 29 deliveries, featuring 7 fours and a maximum, showcased his talent. This form is a continuation of his stellar performances in the recent Test series against England, where he notched up centuries in Rajkot and Dharamshala.
Despite the controversy surrounding his removal from MI’s captaincy, Sharma appeared in good spirits during the franchise’s Holi celebrations alongside his wife Ritika and daughter Samaira. Upon reaching Hyderabad with the MI squad, Sharma was greeted by enthusiastic fans at the airport, a testament to his status as one of India’s leading cricketers and the enduring face of the Mumbai franchise.
While remaining tight-lipped about the captaincy removal controversy, Sharma showcased his batting prowess in the match against the Gujarat Titans. This performance offered a glimpse of his unfettered batting style, potentially relishing the opportunity to play without the burden of leadership responsibilities for the first time in a decade.
Sharma’s aggressive innings provided a spark for MI’s chase, but unfortunately, his dismissal halted their momentum, ultimately leading to a six-run defeat. Despite this setback, Sharma’s return to form bodes well for MI’s campaign in IPL 2024.
