Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) demonstrated dominance as they secured a resounding eight-wicket victory against Gujarat Giants at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB’s comprehensive performance propelled them to the top of the points table, marking their second consecutive win in the WPL 2024 season.

The Giants’ batting collapse was initiated by Renuka Singh, whose superb spell fetched her two crucial wickets for just 14 runs in four overs. Sophie Molineux further intensified Giants’ woes with her disciplined bowling, clinching three wickets for 25 runs. Consequently, the Giants struggled to post a competitive total, managing only 107 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, RCB’s Smriti Mandhana and S Meghana displayed aggressive batting, propelling their team to victory in just 12.3 overs. Mandhana’s rapid 43 off 27 balls set the tone for RCB’s chase, while Meghana’s unbeaten 36* ensured a swift conclusion to the match.
Renuka Singh’s impressive new-ball bowling and Molineux’s effective left-arm spin stifled Giants’ batting lineup, leaving them struggling to build partnerships. Despite D Hemalatha’s defiant 31*, Giants failed to pose a significant challenge to RCB’s dominance.
RCB’s convincing victory not only showcased their all-round strength but also solidified their position at the top of the points table. In contrast, the Giants’ consecutive losses have relegated them to the bottom of the standings, highlighting the challenges they face in the tournament.
