Sri Lanka effortlessly chased down the target of 267, securing a comprehensive seven-wicket victory in the final ODI against Afghanistan. Pathum Nissanka’s century and Avishka Fernando’s aggressive innings led the charge, propelling Sri Lanka to a 3-0 series whitewash.

Pathum Nissanka outstanding 118, his second century in three games, set a new record as the highest run-scorer in a three-match series for Sri Lanka with 346 runs. Avishka’s explosive innings, featuring 10 fours and five sixes, further dismantled Afghanistan’s hopes.
Despite fifties from Rahmat Shah and Azmatullah Omarzai, Afghanistan faltered in the final overs, losing 6 for 43 and getting bowled out for 266. Sri Lanka’s bowling unit, supported by excellent fielding, consistently contained Afghanistan, securing a triumphant end to the ODI series.
Sri Lanka’s dominance was evident as they chased the target in just 35.2 overs, with Pathum Nissanka achieving the fastest 2000 ODI runs for Sri Lanka in 52 games. Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama calmly sealed the win with 88 balls to spare.
Afghanistan’s missed opportunities and Sri Lanka’s clinical performance marked the conclusion of a frustrating series for the visitors. Sri Lanka’s bowling performance, with notable contributions from Dunith Wellalage, Akila Dananjaya, and Pramod Madushan, showcased a well-rounded performance.
