Ravi Ashwin Joins Elite Club: 100th Test Appearance for India against England in 5th Test

In the fifth Test against England at Dharamsala, R. Ashwin becomes India’s 14th player to achieve the remarkable milestone of 100 Test matches. Making his Test debut against the West Indies in New Delhi in 2011, Ashwin hails as the first cricketer from Tamil Nadu to reach this landmark, and at 37 years old, he is the oldest Indian to do so.

Notably, Ashwin is only the second Indian, following Anil Kumble, to secure 500 Test wickets, a feat he accomplished by dismissing Zak Crawley during the third Test in Rajkot. His remarkable bowling figures boast 507 Test wickets at an average of 23.91 and a strike-rate of 51.3. Additionally, he has contributed significantly with the bat, accumulating 3309 runs, including five Test centuries, at an average of 26.47.

Among Indian cricket legends, Ashwin’s journey to 100 Tests stands out, taking him 12 years and 4 months, putting him alongside illustrious names like Virat Kohli, Sunil Gavaskar, and Rahul Dravid.
