KL Rahul has returned to India after seeking advice from a specialist in London for his quadriceps pain. The Indian middle-order stalwart had to withdraw from the remainder of India’s five-match series against England after initially taking the field in Hyderabad.

Despite initial speculation about his return for the final two Tests, Rahul’s quadriceps issue necessitated a more extended recovery period.
Currently, the 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is focusing on his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He aims to regain full fitness in preparation for the forthcoming IPL 2024 season, where he will represent the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The IPL 2024 campaign holds significant importance for Rahul as he eyes a comeback to the national side, especially with India’s preparations for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies in mind.
Rahul expects to declare fitness in the coming weeks and intends to join the LSG pre-IPL training camp later this month. Sources close to TOI indicate that Rahul aims to demonstrate his capabilities in IPL 2024, eyeing a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad, potentially as a wicketkeeper.
Recently scoring 86 and 22 against England in Hyderabad and fulfilling the role of India’s primary wicketkeeper-batter during the 2023 ODI World Cup in Pant’s absence, Rahul’s return to form could significantly bolster India’s squad.
In IPL 2024, Rahul is set to lead the LSG franchise alongside deputy Krunal Pandya, with their opening match scheduled against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 24.
